Garden Building Base Advice
If you want you garden building to last the most important thing to get correct is the base, this is vital for the larger buildings due to their weight and is essential when dealing with log cabins and some of the larger summerhouses or timber garages.
Timber Treatment Advice
Introduction to treating your timber building
Many wooden garden buildings are supplied with a base coat, typically water based. Base coats provided in the factory are normally only a primer, and you should apply a good quality wood treatment either before or during assembly, and then annually after. Varnish is not recommended, but there are a large number of preservatives and treatments out there in a variety of colours. We recommend using a high-quality, preferably spirit based treatment, for longer lasting protection. Water based treatments can become less effective after a few months of being weathered away.
Greenhouse Tips
“My greenhouse is my oasis. It may be pouring with rain or blowing a gale, but inside, warm and cosy, I’m in my element, cocooned from the elements and doing what I enjoy most, potting and tending my plants. The only problem is that, once inside, I find it hard to come out again!”
